The Unofficial Queen’s Law Social Calendar
Welcome back our illustrious alumni by reminding them that pancakes and beer are part of a nutritionally balanced breakfast, do the Oil Thigh at a football game and take in the sights and sounds of the police cordon on Aberdeen Street.
November: Fall Reading Week
While 2Ls vanish for the ritual mating dance of in-firm interviews, cocktail receptions and thank you notes, 1Ls can enjoy a week slacking off before realizing that mid-terms are three weeks away.
January: Law Games
Travel in the dead of winter to such exotic locales as Thunder Bay or Halifax to compete against law students from across the country in thrilling games of kick-ball and trivia by day. By night, the adage “What happens at the Law Games, stays at the Law Games,” hints at what is in store.
January: New York City Trip
With your hotel conveniently located in Times Square, you can shop, go to a Knicks game, watch a Broadway show or go to a fancy bar. In between, you might even meet a Wall Street lawyer or two.
The best opportunity of the year to step up and unleash your inner rock star. It’s also the best time to use your newfound legal knowledge to make up a punny band name that only law students will chuckle at.
February: Med-Law Games
Bragging rights are on the line as Queen’s Law challenges Queen’s Medicine to a game of who can contribute more to society (in charitable terms, of course).
March: Cabaret for a Cure
Come for the dancing, stay for the fashion show. One complimentary black and white profile picture included for every participant.
The quintessential Queen’s Law social event, Thursday night smokers are the unofficial start to the weekend and the likeliest cause of groggy eyes and nodding heads during Friday morning classes. Smokers are also educational: you may not know a thing about
the Queen’s Sea Mammal Law Society, but your interest will be piqued after their manatee-themed smoker.
