Meet the Candidates: 1L Female Athletic Rep
What is Queen’s Law to you?
Queen’s Law is an opportunity like no other. Queen’s Law is an amazing program which will allow us to gain knowledge of the legal profession and grow as intellectuals but I believe that this is where we will have our greatest memories. Queen’s Law is an opportunity to make everlasting friendships, to network, and to make the best of every moment. We have only been in school for one month and I have already noticed how community-oriented this school is. Memories have been made, friendships have started to be formed and I am SO excited to see what the rest of this year, and the next three have to offer!
What do you hope to achieve in this position?
As female athletic rep, I hope to be able to advocate for the rest of the 1Ls in planning/coordinating events to make our year unforgettable. I understand that we all have different abilities and I would like to be able to advocate for inclusion of all 1Ls and for activities that include more than just going to bars and/or drinking. I think getting active and being involved in activities is important to keep our minds fresh and ready to soak up all the information we will be given this year. Law school is supposed to be the best years of your life, so let’s start the first year off with a bang! I think the position of Athletic Rep is about more than just athletic events, I believe it is about incorporating health and wellness into our everyday lives.
What makes you the best choice for this position?
I believe that I am the best candidate for this position as I have a variety of experience on different committees and associations. My past experience includes being a Female Athletic Representative on the University of New Brunswick Saint John Residence Council, Executive Committee Secretary on the Paralegal Student’s Association at Durham College, a member of Teranet’s House League Committee, and outside of work and school, I was also a member of the events committee of the Durham Region Alzheimer’s Society. I also have experience of participating in and running many different fantasy pools, and participating in intramural sports (GO LEGAL SETS!). My vast experience and diversity of roles have helped me develop strong inclusive event planning skills and I would love to help make your 1L year unforgettable.
